Janet Teitsort has authored eight books: Rainbows for Teacher (Baker Book House), Treasures for Teachers (Baker Book House), Seasons of Laughter for Teachers (Baker Book House, Long Distance Grandma (Baker Book House 1998), Quiet Times: Meditations for a Busy Woman (C.R. Gibson), also available in Spanish, Long Distance Grandma: Staying Connected Across The Miles (Howard Publishing 2005 release), 100 Questions and Answers on The Promises of God (Strang 2008), and a book of fiction, A Pink Web of Deception, (Exodus Christian Publishing 2018). Janet is a contributor to the books, Proverbs for Busy Women (Broadman-Holman), The Light of Faith (Harcourt) and The Ultimate Bible Guide (Group Publishing). David C. Cook, Mature Living, Today’s Christian Senior, Mature Years, Liguorian, The Secret Place, The Christian Reader, Lillenas, The Church Musician, LifeWise, and DaySpring Greeting Cards are among her publishing credits.

Janet is a member of ACFW (American Christian Fiction Writers), a graduate of CLASS (Christian Leaders, Authors, and Speakers Services) and The Institute of Children’s literature. She enjoys public speaking. She has taught grandparenting workshops at the Indiana Southern Baptist Women’s Evangelism Retreat, Christian Seniors Fellowship IN Conference, Focus Over Fifty Conference (Focus On The Family), Leaving A Legacy Conference (Grandparenting Network) and Iron Sharpens Iron Conference for Women. Janet has served as co-instructor for the Central Indiana Writers Workshop and as a panelist at the Advancing Hoosier Women in Business Seminar. She founded and directed the Open Door Christian Writers.

She has given in-services and taught writing workshops for elementary schools, serving as a teacher/consultant for writing, and was a presenter for the National Convention of Christian Educators International Association. She has spoken to women’s groups, church groups, service organizations, teachers groups, writers’ seminars and senior organizations.

Janet and her husband, John, make their home in Westport, Indiana. They have two adult children, nine grandchildren, three grand-in-laws, five great-grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.

The Teitsort family is active in the Westport Baptist Church where they are members. Currently, Janet sings in the choir, leads a Bible Study, and is editor of the church newsletter. She is the administrator of the local Good News Club at South Decatur Elementary, which has 150 students enrolled. Janet is a past leader in Bible Study Fellowship International, a lay Bible school.

Janet dreamed of writing…

But she didn’t think it would happen because she lived in a small town, but God had other plans.

God has blessed Janet by enriching her life with many experiences She was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker for twelve years.  She has a Masters in Elementary Education.  Janet taught first grade, fifteen years, and sixth grade, five years.  She retired from classroom teaching at South Decatur Elementary. Janet currently stays abreast of teaching trends by substitute teaching and tutoring.

During her teaching years she received the Decatur County “Educator of the Year Award”, served as a Mentor Teacher, a Supervising Teacher, and a TESA Trainer.  Janet has received training through Ball State University, which enables her to work as a Teacher/Writing Consultant.
